Fees

Fee slips are issued when the child starts playgroup and are payable by standing order on the 15th of each month. If fees remain outstanding 14 days after the due date the committee reserves the right to request the parents to withdraw their child from the playgroup.

For short absences, we ask you to pay the normal amount as we must continue to pay salaries. For longer absences we ask that you give up your place to another child, but once you are ready to start again you will be given the next available place. If you are a carer and wish to bring another child (aged 2-5) along to playgroup when you are on duty you will be required to pay for them.

Notice: four weeks notice in writing to the Play Leader is required if a child is withdrawn and fees are payable for this period.

Fees are £5.50 per session

Settling In

Three playgroup staff will support the child through sensitive interpretation of the children’s wishes and needs. Playgroup staff are always available to discuss in confidence any problems or anxieties you may have.

Parents Rota

At each session there are 3 playgroup staff and one parent helper (or parent substitute- nannies, grannies, granddads are all welcome!) with 2 parents on stand-by.

Please note: It is not suitable for younger siblings to be brought on duty days. Duty exemptions are granted to breast feeding mothers for six months and pregnant mums from 32 weeks.

Rota parents are absolutely essential to the running of the playgroup, so if you cannot manage any of the dates you are given, please feel free to swap with someone else. Remember to mark the master copy (usually displayed on the parent’s playgroup notice board). Please note who is on back up 1 on your duty day and let them know if you are unable to come at the last minute. You should then arrange to do the next persons duty.

A rota system ensures an even share of the duties for all parents and everyone is expected to take part. The duty person is on duty for the whole of the playgroup morning. If you are on back up duty remember to keep that morning free – you can be called in at a moments notice.

When not required to fill in for another parent, back up duty includes returning to playgroup at 11:20am to help tidy up. You will really appreciate those extra pairs of hands at the end of your own duty morning.

Guide to Rota Duties

Help as required within the daily free flow play and with the art and craft activities.

  • 11:00 wash snack dishes and clear kitchen
  • 11:20 Tidy up hall with back ups
  • 11:45 Children dismissed individually to parent from the small hall

Please remember our insurance finishes at 11:45am and from then you are responsible for your own child.

Suitable Clothing

Please remember that playgroup fun means getting messy and so please dress your child appropriately. Also easy fastenings help when going to the toilet.

Toilet Training

It is not essential that children are potty-trained, we do accept children in nappies.

Signing the Register

When bringing your child in the mornings, please fill in the register and say who is to collect your child.

Collection of Children

Please let the play leaders know in advance if someone else is to collect your child.

Information Board

There is a notice board at the back of the hall with important information on rotas, fire safety etc. Other information is displayed on the Playgroup table.

Change of Address

Please let the play leaders know of any changes in address or telephone numbers so they can always get in touch with you in case of emergency.

Social Nights

Not only will your child make new friends, but you will too! Each term we try to organise social occasions. In the past we have had make-up parties, card parties and a summer fun day. The committee welcomes any ideas for future events.
